The trail starts in the picturesque and pleasant village of Azinhal dos Mouros, crossing it in a north-westerly direction and following, after the last houses, an old path flanked by stone walls, which gives access to the stream. It descends the slope and connects to a wider path, which to the north passes through the village of Tavilhão. At the crossroads with this path, turn left until you reach the bridge over the Ribeira do Vascão. Turn right towards Corte Pinheiro, along a wide dirt track alongside the Ribeira do Vascanito, along which you can admire the beautiful river valley and vegetable gardens.

On arrival in Corte Pinheiro the trail stays on the main road for about 250m until the crossroads into the village.

At the crossroads turn left towards the river on the tarred road. At the bridge take a path on the left where you have to cross the stream. Follow the path until it crosses an agricultural field and you arrive at the water-mill at Marmeleira.

At this point you reach the tarred road, which you will walk for about 400m, turn left, until you find a dirt track on the right. At this point you start a 1,6km ascent to Cerro dos Vermelhos. Once at the top, turn left towards the Monte dos Vermelhos.

On the access road to this village, turn left and immediately right towards Montinho, Portela and Lagar da Cera, descend to the Ribeira do Vascão and cross it. Turn left, northwards, until you reach the village Vale Gomes. Continue for 500m on a wide track, and then turn left, taking a narrow track north to the village of Vale Gomes. Here, follow a paved road until you reach the junction with the national road 503, which joins Ameixial and Vermelhos. Cross and enter the valley adjacent to the Moinho da Chavachã. Continue Northeast, always marginal to the tarred road, until a dirt track on the left, near the crossroads to the village of Medronheira or Ximeno. Continue along this path and cross the stream. Here take a path along the river. The end of the trail is at the crossroads to Corte Pinheiro, when you reach the bridge over the Vascão. From this point as far as the village of Azinhal dos Mouros the itinerary repeats itself.
